The Q4 Equipment Play: Why Smart Businesses Buy Before December 31
Here’s something your accountant probably already told you: if your business needs equipment, the next 11 weeks might be the most tax-efficient time all year to get it.
Section 179 of the tax code lets businesses deduct the full cost of qualifying equipment in the year it’s placed in service — instead of depreciating it over several years. Buy a $120,000 CNC machine in November, put it to work in December, and you may be able to deduct the entire $120,000 from your 2026 taxes. Wait until January, and that deduction slides to 2027.
The catch? Timing.
The equipment has to be installed and working by December 31 — not just ordered. And anyone who’s bought industrial equipment knows: approval, delivery, rigging, and installation all take time. Starting in mid-October gives you room. Starting in mid-December gives you anxiety.
Where financing changes the math
A lot of business owners think “I’ll buy it when I have the cash.” But here’s the thing: you may be able to claim the Section 179 deduction on financed equipment — getting the tax benefit now while spreading payments over time.
- Preserve your cash. Q4 is expensive enough with payroll, bonuses, and inventory. Financing keeps your working capital intact.
- Move fast. Our approvals take minutes, not weeks — which matters when you’re racing a tax deadline.
- Match payments to revenue. The equipment starts earning from day one; let it help cover its own cost.
What qualifies?
Most equipment we finance: CNC machinery, manufacturing equipment, technology and IT systems, test and measurement instruments, audiovisual gear, LED walls, wireless networking equipment, office furniture, and HVAC systems. New and used.
Try it yourself: our Payment Estimator shows your monthly payment range in seconds — and you can generate a formal proposal PDF to share with your team.
